What types of training does SPAG's 9-1-1 offer? Basic Telecommunicators classes, TDD/TTY course and Cultural Diversity for Dispatchers.
Telecommunicator Levels
Basic Telecommunicator To qualify for a basic telecommunicator proficiency certificate, an applicant must meet all proficiency requirements including:
Intermediate Telecommunicator To qualify for an intermediate telecommunicator proficiency certificate, an applicant must meet all proficiency requirements including:
- 40-hour Basic Telecommunicator Certification. If the basic telecommunications certificate was received on or after January 1, 2000, all of the following courses must be completed:

Cultural Diversity

Ethics for Law Enforcement

Crisis Communication
-
Successful completion of TLETS/NLETS 3809, TCIC/NCIC 3802 or Criminal Law 3100

Spanish for Law Enforcement.

At least two years experience in public safety telecommunications

120 training hours
Advanced Telecommunicator To qualify for an advanced telecommunicator proficiency certificate, an applicant must meet all proficiency requirements including:

Intermediate Telecommunicator certificate

Four years experience in public safety telecommunications;
- 240 training hours
