What types of training does SPAG’s 9-1-1 offer?
Basic Telecommunicators classes, TDD/TTY course and Cultural Diversity for Dispatchers.
Basic Telecommunicator Proficiency Certification
To qualify for a basic telecommunicator proficiency certificate, an applicant must meet all proficiency requirements including:
- an active license or appointment
- 1 year of service
- 3812 TDD/TTY within the last six (6) months
Courses:
- (1013) Successful completion of Basic Telecommunicator Certification Course (3720)
- Successful completion of Telecommunications Operator Field Training (if reported after 6/1/2004) One year of experience in public safety telecommunications
Intermediate Telecommunicator Proficiency Certification
To qualify for an intermediate telecommunicator proficiency certificate, an applicant must meet all proficiency requirements including:
- an active license or appointment
- Basic Telecommunicator Certification
- 2 years of service
- 120 hours of training
- 3812 TDD/TTY within the last six (6) months
Courses: (once during career)
Must complete all courses or equivalents (if Telecommunicator certificate was issued or qualified on or after 1/1/2000)
- (3939) Cultural Diversity OR (394) Cultural Diversity Web with Exercises
- (3920) or (3925) Law Enforcement Ethics
- (2120) Crisis Communications
- (2109) Spanish for Law Enforcement
OR
- (2110) Spanish for Law Enforcement Distance
- (2111) Spanish for Law Enforcement Test-out
- (22109) Spanish for Telecommunicators
- (34003) Spanish for 911/Dispatch-On Patrol

- (3802) TCIC/NCIC for Full Access Operators
- (3809) NLETS/TLETS
- (3811) TLETS/NLETS and TCIC/NCIC Basic Procedures
Advanced Telecommunicator Proficiency Certification
To qualify for an advanced telecommunicator proficiency certificate, an applicant must meet all proficiency requirements including:
- an active license or
- appointment
- Basic Telecommunicator Certificate
- Intermediate Telecommunicator Certificate
- Four years experience in public safety telecommunications;
- 240 training hours
- 3812 TDD/TTY within the last six (6) months
